  • Secured then NOT secured Line Of Credit.

Filed a complaint with HSBC Bank Canada in 2011 with reference to ourselves having severe difficulties with paying our mortgage and LOC (line of credit). To cut a very long story short through 2 years we tried to sell our home in a declining housing market and taking into account we were repeatedly told we must pay down the mortgage and the SECURED LOC and large prepayment fee on our mortgage with realtors fees and legal fees meant we could not reduce our home in price in order to get a sale as we need to cover these costs. During a review of our 1st complaint the HSBC Branch Manager told... More...

  • Global Product poor local customer service (India)

We are a multinational company based out of Toronto, Canada. We have an office in Pune and we were moving our bank accounts from Hyd to Pune. We met with Arpit Shah from your Pune office and we were told he could open our account in 10 business days. We started the process based on the reach of the services provided. He came over not prepared for the meeting but we gave him all the documents when I was in Pune. After we left back he had promised he would have a courier to get the signatures from my other business partner in Canada. The courier came only after I got back to Toronto. After... More...

  • HSBC Bank Customer Service

I have banked with HSBC for about 20 years, most of that time as a premier customer, at their invitation, until this year I have not had a problem.....they have downgraded me from Premier, not as issue, but to cancel, first my debit card and then a credit card without notice is a step too far. The whole thing started when I attempted to purchase euros on line with my debit card, they stopped the card refused payment and I had to go into my local branch to prove my identity....this was done, then the downgrade.....then 2 cancelled cards, one credit and one debit card.....I am currently... • VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH HSBC PREMIER ACCOUNT!!!

I became a customer of HSBC in 2006 as a Premier client! They issued me a Premier Master Card. I used it for 6 years and kept it in good standing. I took my cash out of the bank in 2008 0r 2009 but still kept using the Premier credit card since it had a large limit and i didn't have to carry several different cards with me.. Last August, without a proper warning, they downgraded my credit card account to a lesser credit card with less limit while i was still traveling overseas. I WAS HEART BROKEN THAT THEY WOULD DO THAT TO ME WITHOUT A PROPER WARNING AFTER SO MANY YEARS OF BUSINESS.... More...

  • HSBC Bank worst customer service on this planet

I have had nothing but trouble and heartache with this bank. They have the worst customer service there is. No one knows what they are doing and no one can give you an answer regarding your account. I am a premier customer..which supposedly means better service at HSBC...but that has not been my experience since the beginning. No one wants to be accountable and no one wants to take the time to help the customer. I thought they were in a service business and that is what they are supposed to do. I can't get my money out fast enough. I will NEVER use this bank again even if they... More...

  • Service and response avoidance

My account is with HSBC in Oman, but the regional office is as bad. Reason for saying this, is an accumulation of events. First, they cancelled the online banking without informing me (even they claimed to have done), leaving repeating transfers not being honored. To reinstate this, it took three weeks until I was able to make transfers, paying interest for late transfers at the oversea's banks. I am presetly in Europe for business and even explaining to them this fact, they asked me to come to one of their Oman branches!!!! Trying to call the Premier Account Agent in Oman is a waste... • Tittle to Motorcycle

It has been two months still no title. I have called many times, wrote many e-mails. HSBC sent me a letter to inform me I would be getting my tittle ten days from the date the letter was sent out. I waited many weeks called, e-mailed get the same answer it will be there soon. On the letter they wrote to me only has three states listed informing you that if you live in Ohio, Texas or Florida the state or DMV will have your title. Well, it said nothing about Virginia. Thats where I was stationed when I purchased the motorcycle and where my title was sent to. They figured this out months... More...

  • Is this a Bank??

I have recently decided to give a try to this Bank. I spoke with the branch manager at the Jackson Heights Office. I'm the owner of a Psychotherapy Center and my concern was about: 1. If they clear checks in 24 hours. 2. If they do business loans. The answer to my first question was yes, and the answer to my second question was that the bank was providing with a 24/48 hours response to a business loan. I opened my account and noticed that the checks were taking 72hours to be cleared. (NY State checks, which is my branch state). I also applied to a business loan. After a month... More...

  • Very Poor Customer Service

We have made two attempts to transfer money from our account in Oman to a non HSBC account in Canada. First attempt (3rd April)was rejected by the payments processing centre because the 'Beneficiary Address' field was not completed. We were advised that Canada is the only country that needs this info so the HCBC staff did not know it was required. Second attempt (14th April)was rejected because the account number used was 10 digits, not 12 - why were these details not picked up by HSBC staff before the transfers were made? We have contacted our bank in Canada and they have... More...

  • Fraud

Bought a Victory Motorcycle a year and a half ago. Lost my job a year ago and fell behind 3 months. Paid crazy money to bring loan up to current plus all sorts of Repo costs even though it was not repoed. Original monthly was $150 per month. Cost me $1400 to keep from getting repoed. All of a sudden my monthly payment went from $150 to $250 per month. Tried forever to get someone on the phone who was not an overseas call center. Finally found out it was due to increase in interest rate but would go back after 6 months of regular on time payments. Been making my payments but got got a letter... More...

  • HSBC possibly the worst bank review

Our mortgage is with HSBC. We had always paid our mortgage on time. In October of 2010 we received a certified letter telling us that our property was going to be sold. We proved to them that we had made our mortgage payments but they had processed them to someone else's account. After 7 months and a lot of attorney fees they finally fixed the problem. Of course not after calling us 60 times a day to tell us our account was in default. Today I went to a local HSBC branch to cash a $4300 check that was made out to me and had come from another HSBC branch. They verified that the... More...

HSBC is a company that reassures you of the safety, overdraft protection of their money, HOWEVER, what they fail to tell you is the sales credit line of money that you have. Most banks such as citi or bank of america will take money from your savings account and transfer it to use through your credit. NOT HSBC! THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY YOU OWE FROM SAVINGS, PUT IT IN ANOTHER CREDIT LINE AND CHARGE INTEREST + OVERDRAFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah? Did i mention that the representative on the phone could barely explain the situation and had no idea whatsoever what she was talking about,... More...

  • They're Trying to Close My Account W/O Notifying Me!

I have been a customer at HSBC Bank since 2009 and never had a problem with them until today. I opened a checking & savings account online through HSBC Direct (now HSBC Advance). Without notice on Tuesday October 5th, 2010, they placed notes on both accounts saying that they would be closed. This in turn froze my assets in both accounts and deactivated my cards so I couldn't make purchases, deposit or withdraw money from either account. I only found out that my cards didn't work when my check card was declined at a store on Tuesday October 5th. I went to a branch by my... More...

I have a mortgage with this bank for last6 years, always being on time and current, after I lost my job I requested some help with the payments, even if it was for 6 months until I got back on my feet. • HSBC Passport Account

HSBC 'offers' a Passport Account if you are new to a country, without a local credit history. This is advertised world wide. What isn't advertised is that you are locked into a 12 month contract, and in the UK, this also results in a £8 a month fee for 'allowing' you to have a bank account. Having lived in 7 countries around the world, my perception is that the UK has to have one of the worst banking systems, and HSBC, as a world wide recognized bank, should not be allowed to fleece newly arrived individuals in this way, especially if a good credit rating... We have had a mortgage with HSBC for 13 1/2 years. There are only 1 1/5 years left. We have NEVER been late on a payment. Yesterday, we received a "Notice of Intent to Foreclose" allegedly because we had not made the April and May payments. I checked with our bank and confirmed that April's payment CLEARED into the HSBC coffers. I called HSBC and, after waiting on hold for over 30 minutes, HSBC admitted they received the May payment. HSBC are thieves. I have been a small personal banking customer for 4 years now and finally they have pushed me too far. At every opportunity they can, HSBC sting you with a 'fee' of some description. Often pushing me into overdraft where I'm charged a further $20 (in Australia). I complained about this to a teller at the main Collins St. branch in Melbourne recently, and told her I was on the verge of changing banks, even she agreed HSBC are average, saying "I don't blame you". • No Assistance Whatsoever

HSBC does nothing too help the consumer once they have you. My story: In Jan. 2009, I had some trouble with the monthly payment - one month, mind you. I had nothing but phone calls approximately every hour for days. After repeated correspondence about this, and while trying to catch up, numerous charges were being added to my balance, such as that bogus identity theft feature that they roped me into. Then it was over limit charges, and every day I was deeper into debt. I contacted them again, and got a reply saying they would try to work with me. I Explained, and in the meantime... More...

Take your money out of HSBC while you still can. I have been a loyal customer of HSBC for a long time, and until recently I was a happy customer as well. Suddenly, I have become a very unhappy customer and I am taking my money out of HSBC because of the dreadfully unfair and arbitrary actions taken by HSBC. I have been very diligently paying my bills on time and taking other steps to make sure my credit score goes up as much as possible. Suddenly my credit score dropped significantly even though ALL of my payments, etc. have all been paid on time. So why did my credit score drop one might... More...

  • Horrible

An endless series of frustrations: 1) Forms for opening an account are confusing and misleading. 2) Proof of identity makes unrealistic assumptions for internationals. 3) Service charges are very high: $15/mo for having only a modest amount of money in the bank. That is $180/yr for not doing much. 4) Service charges get worse: I provided a cheque on day one, made two purchases on day two, and got charged $70 (2x $35) on day three because the cheque didn't count until a few days later. So $35 charge on top of a ~$35 purchase is 100% penalty!? 5) Online access security controls are... More...

Yes, their interest rate is fairly good and their online system works ok but if you have any problems at all (as I did when they suspended all my linked accounts for no reason), that require you call Customer Service… then I feel sorry for you. The HSBC in Adelaide is an issue and a problem one needs to avoid. But the bank is the entire problem with parrots living in them. One cannot complain as they never take note or any notice of what the customer really wants. Their staff do but do the level above do??. Pretty much a lip service bank. Banking with them over 5 years has been an experience, with one issue over another till you boil over and give them trouble. Rather than actually something, they go into defence mode and block everything. hmmm sounds like all banks huh. Well lets start, their web site banking is still clunky,... More...

  • Careful about depositing in HSBC

Out of fear of losing money in a bank collapse last August I opened an online account with HSBC and funded it with an electronic transfer from my bank. HSBC said they would send me a username and password, but as of October 19, 2008 I have not received those items. I have called and emailed them repeatedly but I get nothing but nonsense from their "Customer Service Representatives". In the past three weeks HSBC has called my phone number at least 3 to 5 times per day asking for one of their customers who used to live in this apartment building about three years ago. He was evicted right after we moved in. Even though I have explained to their representatives 3 or 4 times that I don't know him and that this is not his phone number, they continue to call.
